I know Bryan. Love his wines. They are consistently outstanding and naturally eccentric...just like their creator. Always a pleasure, ever a surprise!

Thanks for reminding me. I need to track him down. Haven't talked to him in a couple years.

Hmm... yeah, I was at that tasting in August, and I agree with Matthew's take. I learned of it via Bryan Harrington; (consistently fine Pinots) otherwise I wouldn't have known. Don't have my notes here, but the A.P. Vin Pinots were standouts, and the August West Zin was what I imagine one would have been like locally, 40 years ago. Anyway, it seems that the East Bay has more everyday wine world activity.

San Francisco is dead. However there was a recent tasting at Arlequin for San Francisco Winemakers:

Broc Cellars (Syrah needs time, Grenache from Monterey is good, rose is good)

A.P. Vin (good pinto, expensive)

Sutton Cellars (interesting, but not my cup of tea)

Harrington Wines (really good pinot, also expensive)

August West (interesting and they had other things including a Zinfindel that I bought, because it did not, at all, remind me of something I spread on toast)

It, of course, turned into a wine drinking gathering. San Francisco is still the same.
