Enjoy Your Wine

Hey Oephorians,

Any other wine makers on the site? I'd love to talk shop. Making a Southern Humboldt Pinot Noir from Fruitland Ridge and a Wahluke Slope Syrah from Washington State for 2008.

Ping me if you can.

Hi.

I'm not a winemaker, just a drinker! Glad you joined though. The intent of the site is to attract a wide range of users of all strips from winemakers to sommeliers and beginners to experts can converse and learn from each other.

We haven't been here long and I haven't noted any other wine makers having joined, but we're gaining new members every day.

Please tell me something about your wine endeavors. I've worked in wine mostly on the consumer side. So the opportunity to talk to a wine maker...we'll this is why I started the site really...learn for wine people from far and wide.

long time drinker, first time poster.

Aaron Olson and I have decided we are going to set out and try to make the wines we like to drink. He is a Washington State zealot and I take pride in the things we do here in CA. Though we love old world wines, we don't want to make a syrah that is trying to be Cote Rotie or a Burgundy pinot. Our 2008 Pinot is from Southern Humboldt (like Woodenhead) and the Syrah is Wahluke Slope. We are not dogmatic natural winemakers, nor are we UC Davis clones. Just 2 punks (hence the deux punx name) trying to stir up some trouble.

We are struggling through the compliance crap and hope to be bonded next year.

Sorry for the off topic. I'll check out your blog. Where can I find your wine? Or is that answered on your blog. Feel free to promote deux punx shamelessly here.

once we clear compliance we can sell it. right now we are taking donations for bottles.

Hey Dan,
Not a winemaker myself, just the daughter of one, but I do my best to keep the grape stains on my fingers fresh.
My family (ww.rnestate.com) grows Rhône & Bordeux varietals in Paso Robles, as well as make a Pinot from Fiddlestix Vineyards & Maridel Vineyard (near Edna Valley but not Edna Valley). We're small. Very small - in the 700 cases a year range.
How's the paperwork going? Driving you batty yet?
I'm off to check to your blog...

i am in paso ever few months for work. would love to check out rnestates. i'm a fan of the rhone stuff going on in central california.

the paper work in still in a pile and not getting done. 700 cases seems big compared to our 150 cases.

cheers

dan.
